Build clean UTM tracking links for your campaigns
Add campaign tracking parameters to any destination URL so you can identify where visits and conversions came from in your analytics.
UTM links are useful for email campaigns, social posts, paid ads, affiliates, partnerships, QR codes, and other marketing links.
The generator keeps the required campaign fields simple and gives you optional fields when you need to separate keywords, audiences, ads, or creative variations.
UTM naming is case-sensitive in many analytics reports. Pick a naming convention and use it consistently.
Create a UTM link in four steps
You only need the destination URL and three core campaign fields.
Enter the destination URL
Paste the page you want visitors to reach.
Add the traffic source
Identify where the visitor is coming from, such as instagram, google, newsletter, or a partner.
Add the medium and campaign
Describe the channel type and give the campaign a recognizable name.
Copy the finished URL
Use the generated link in your ad, email, post, QR code, or other campaign placement.
Example Instagram campaign URL
Suppose an ecommerce store is linking to a product page from an autumn promotion on Instagram.
The generated URL adds those values as UTM parameters. When visitors use the link, compatible analytics tools can attribute that traffic to the Instagram social campaign and the story-link variation.
What each field means
The fields work together to describe where a campaign visit came from.
utm_source
Identifies the specific traffic source, such as google, instagram, newsletter, or partner-name.
utm_medium
Describes the marketing channel, such as cpc, email, social, referral, or affiliate.
utm_campaign
Groups links under a campaign, launch, promotion, or initiative you want to measure together.
utm_term
Optional field for a keyword, audience, targeting group, or another useful campaign detail.
utm_content
Optional field for distinguishing ads, buttons, images, links, or creative variations.
UTM URL questions
Common questions about building and using campaign tracking links.
What is a UTM URL?
It is a normal web address with campaign-tracking parameters added to the end so analytics tools can identify the source and campaign behind a visit.
Which UTM fields should I always use?
For a simple campaign, source, medium, and campaign name are the core fields. Term and content are optional and useful when you need more detail.
Should I use spaces in UTM values?
You can, and the URL will encode them, but a consistent convention such as lowercase words separated by underscores can make reports easier to manage.
Are UTM values case-sensitive?
They can appear as separate values in analytics reports. For example, Instagram and instagram may be treated as different campaign values, so consistency matters.
Can I use a URL that already has query parameters?
Yes. The generator adds the UTM values to the existing URL rather than replacing unrelated query parameters.
